Best Value and Service on Viking Hermod River Cruises
The included tours were all very well done and enjoyable. The optional Mozart & Strauss Concert was very worthwhile while the Budapest Grand Market tour was a bust. Starting the trip in Passau was great and was probably better than starting in Budapest (guessing.)
The service by Viking staff was great!
Viking gave us great personal service beyond what we assumed it would be.
The trip was beyond expectations. Even though our room was small it was so efficient you never felt cramped into the space. The staff was excellent and we had a wonderful time.
Hotel in Nice (le Meridian) not up to standard Paint peeling in rooms as an example...expect more from a 4 star.
Viking is a first class river cruise line and we were very pleased with their service.
Viking was amazing, as always!
Had never been on a river cruise before. Overall I prefer ocean cruises, mainly because of the onboard experiences. Not enough public spaces on the river boat. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, but seemed to be doing too many jobs-always rushed. However I loved the included tours off the boat. Most were walking right off the boat with your guide into town. All of the guides were excellent-very knowledgeable, professional, yet had a great sense of humor. They didn’t sound like they had repeated the same information to others many times over.
We have traveled extensively through Europe, Eastern Europe, USA, Hawaii and Alaska. The Viking River Cruise was the best trip we have taken for our age. I like being pampered! Of course it was the most expensive trip we have taken also. Before we always traveled with Globus. Cannot wait to go again.
Wonderful cruise and would highly recommend.
First Viking River Cruise and we enjoyed it very much.
Because of low water we did not get the ship we were suppose to. We paid extra to get a top floor veranda room so we could see, and every time we docked there was a second ship right beside us so there was no view except their veranda close enough to touch and no view. Because of low water we were not able to go by river to two ports and had to be bused there. The first bused trip (50 miles) we returned to our ship after the tours, but the second one to our last port (150 miles) we had to change ships for our last night. We had to pack up and move all luggage to go to the other ship. We had to cancel some tours because of this. Twice we had no water to take showers with. The food for American choices never changed and I don't like other foods, so I had to eat the same foods over and over. Overall a lot of the guest were not very happy with this trip. Some said that they had been on Viking River cruises before and this was not like the others. But being my first river cruise this one did not make a very good impression on me. I am not sure I would take another one with Viking.

The river cruise experience was outstanding. We hope to take another one in the future.
