- Day 1BudapestTue, Nov 23, 2027
Riverside beauty and a vibrant cultural scene blend together in Budapest to form one of Europe's most rewarding cities. Hungary's enchanting capital straddles the banks of the Danube, with traditional hillside Buda on one side and modern Pest on the other. By day, stunning art nouveau buildings, stalwart castles and grand palaces set the stage for inspiring strolls and long soaks in thermal spas. By night, the shimmering lights of the Parliament building dance across the waters of the Danube, the Chain Bridge uniting it all as a dramatic centerpiece.
- Day 2Scenic Sailing: Danube BendWed, Nov 24, 2027
Take in the natural beauty of the fabled "Blue Danube” as you pass through the Danube Bend, considered one of the most beautiful sections of the river. Cruising this 40-mile stretch through northern Hungary, you will see peaceful farmland and an ancient castle that once served as hunting grounds for royals and visiting dignitaries. As you sail the passage between the Börzsöny and Pilis Ranges, you will marvel at the steep hills draped with bucolic forests. And delight in the majestic church domes peering at the waterway from inviting villages and historic cities.
- Day 3ViennaThu, Nov 25, 2027
Renowned as the "City of Waltzes,” Austria's capital city of Vienna is Europe's center of classical music. Strauss and Mozart composed many of their finest pieces here. Vienna's musical history is matched by the elegant, graceful architecture that lines the Ringstrasse, the wide boulevard encircling the Inner City. Baroque, neo-Renaissance, Gothic-Romanesque and other splendidly styled structures, from the Hofburg Palace to the Vienna State Opera, take the breath away with their grand facades. Vienna has a more intimate side too: inviting footpaths lead through green parks and its famed Viennese cafés sweeten any stay with coffee and the city's delectable Sachertorte.
- Day 4ViennaFri, Nov 26, 2027
Vienna is considered one of Europe's greatest cultural hubs. Its art scene has long been established with the Hapsburg's collection of fine art, now housed at the Kunsthistorisches Museum. Today, Vienna's modern side showcases street art murals that don the side of buildings along the banks of the Danube. Ingrained in local life is the long-embraced tradition of coffeehouses; UNESCO includes Viennese coffeehouse culture on its list of Intangible Cultural Heritages. It is considered one of life's pleasures to while away an afternoon over an Einspänner coffee and a pastry.
- Day 5KremsSat, Nov 27, 2027
A small university town at the eastern end of the Danube's Wachau Valley, Krems is surrounded by terraced vineyards. In its heyday, during the 12th century, Krems held even more importance than Vienna for its iron, grain, salt and wine trade. As to the latter, the city has played a long and celebrated part in the popularity of the Wachau's wine culture; the valley's south slopes in Krems are bathed in sunlight all day and create some of the best Riesling and Veltliner wines in the world. The city's cobblestone streets, taverns, wine bars and coffeehouses have a timeless appeal.
- Day 6PassauSun, Nov 28, 2027
Founded by the Celts over 2,000 years ago, Passau is one of Bavaria's oldest cities. Known as the "City of Three Rivers,” it rests at the confluence of the Inn, Ilz and Danube rivers. The city has long enjoyed its strategic position and grew to great economic and political power because of it. The legacy of its past prosperity lives on in graceful arcades, colorful houses with rococo facades and the glorious baroque St. Stephen's Cathedral, home to one of Europe's largest pipe organs. Passau is also where two nations meet; it is here that the German-Austrian border begins.
- Day 7RegensburgMon, Nov 29, 2027
Having escaped major damage during World War II, the picturesque town of Regensburg is one of Europe's best-preserved medieval cities, the oldest city along the Danube and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Old Stone Bridge, constructed in the 12th century, is a masterpiece of medieval engineering with its 16 arches. St. Peter's Cathedral is widely considered Bavaria's best Gothic architectural work. The old town's Neupfarrplatz square is a cross section of history-it was once a thriving Jewish quarter, a bustling marketplace and the site of Nazi book burnings.

Questions & Answers Ask A Question
Question: Will the day-by-day itinerary change?
Question: In what language is the river cruise conducted?
The Viking River cruise cabins are the most cramped uncomfortable rooms we have had on any cruise ever. I would not take another river cruise with them. This is not Affordable Tours or our agents fault but are Viking’s! While the service and excursions were superb the cabin size, lack of a fitness center and self laundry are a big negative.
All Viking Cruises have been outstanding.
The gardens of Giverney were spectacular! I also love the light show/music in the old quarry - well worth the extra cost for an added excursion!
I believe Affordable tours does a great job throughout the whole process
I would like to see the Paris at Night excursion on a different night than the last one (maybe the night in Paris on the front). We were in Paris all day at the end, came back and went out again at night. I had little time to pack and get ready for the early flight the next AM. Otherwise the trip was great in all respects.
Service was excellent. Great ship and crew. The best of everything, you must sign up and not miss this experience.
Excellent cruise...service was perfect as were all excursions!
I can't say enough wonderful things about Viking! They were just fabulous and amazing people! They were wonderful, the crew, program manager, tour guides, canin steward, waiters...just everybody! Best vacation we ever had and worth every penny!
We enjoyed this trip immensely. The staff made you feel special..wonderful service. Many extras are included in the price. Food was very delicious. Shore excursions very interesting with very knowledgeable guides. Overall a pleasant experience.
Overall, the Viking staff met expectations. However, the Bucharest team seemed lacking in experience and being able to deliver on the Viking promise of excellence. The multi-hour wait at the Bucharest Airport was uncharacteristic of Viking. And, the transportation to the Vienna Airport was chaos.
We like Viking Ocean better than Viking River. Food was very good but Viking encourages people to go into the dining room early and save seats so often it was hard to find a table that had room for our group of four. Tours and guides were very good but the optional tours are often expensive. They have the details down to make it an easy vacation.
Staff etc great but dinner seating too crowded and noisy. We had group of 6 and had to stand in line for table rather than enjoying cocktails. Also both Rhone and Rhine rivers polluted and smelly at times. Tours excellent! Rooms above expectations except would book 3rd level next time as many times room facing the underside of pier.
Trip was described as a river cruise which began while riverboat was docked in downtown Paris. About 3 weeks before the trip, after the date that we could cancel without penalty, we were notified that boat would be docking 11 miles outside of Paris. As a result, the entire Paris experience was changed resulting in way too many hours spent on bus shuttles or alternative trips which replaced the ability to step off the boat and explore the city. Viking provided no compensation except for an on-ship credit for a lunch. In addition, although we booked our flight through Viking, they refused transfer us from our point of arrival in Paris. We do not plan to travel again with Viking.

Viking was everything it promised to be. They couldn't have done more to make the trip go smoothly and without anxiety on our part. The only negative if there was one is I would rather have seen fewer cities with more time in each. They were all whilrwind tours which were very good, but left us wanting more.
