- Day 1AmsterdamMon, Nov 30, 2026
A city of charming canals, elegant gabled houses, splendid museums and abundant bicycles, the Dutch capital of Amsterdam is a delight to explore. Its patchwork of waterways forms about 90 islands connected by 1,500 bridges. The legacy of the Dutch Golden Age lives on in gilded manses and in the lush paintings of Rembrandt and other Dutch masters that adorn the Rijksmuseum, The Netherlands' grand repository of art and cultural history. Discovering Amsterdam is a pleasure best pursued on foot; visitors line the tranquil canals and linger over Dutch pancakes, or take a stroopwafel to go.
- Day 2Scenic Sailing: Waal & MerwedeTue, Dec 01, 2026
Sail the bucolic waters of the Rhine, deep into the Rhine–Meuse–Scheldt Delta, as classic Dutch landscapes unfurl all around. Flat farmland, charming windmills and svelte poplar trees line the shores, and vast tracts of land stretch in all directions, growing all manner of bounty, from tomatoes to tulips. Gaze upon Friesian cows and tidy villages with their neatly laid farmhouses and marvel at how much of this land was reclaimed from the sea, with the aid of traditional windmills and the construction of dikes.
- Day 3CologneWed, Dec 02, 2026
Themed winter markets feature across Cologne during the holiday season, inviting visitors to browse colorful market stalls for handmade gifts, beautiful artwork and colorful crafts. - Day 6StrasbourgSat, Dec 05, 2026
Strasbourg is said to be the capital of Christmas in France, with the city's cathedral square taking center stage as it is transformed into a winter wonderland. The city's Christkindelsmärik is the oldest in France, dating back to 1570. Hundreds of stalls are brimming with colorful wares, fine food and mulled wine, bringing festive cheer in abundance. Alsatian specialties feature an array of hearty classics, from bretzels (soft, bread-like pretzels) to bredele (star-shaped spiced cookies), and knacks (sausages) to pain d'epices (gingerbread).

In the heart of Breisach's old town with a backdrop of the Romanesque-Gothic St. Stephen's cathedral, the Weinachtsmarkt is a highlight of the season. Question: Will the day-by-day itinerary change?
Question: In what language is the river cruise conducted?
Loved our trip. Loved our service.
Viking takes excellent care of their guests.....felt very safe and very secure
If we had questions we could always call & get answers. This was our first river cruise so we were unfamiliar with what to bring, etc. the cruise was everything we expected & more. Thank you Shannon.
We enjoyed our Viking cruise very much. Would definitely book another cruise. The Rhine river cruise was great.
It was an excellent trip. Very good itinerary.
We were more than pleased with the Viking China trip! Our guide was phenomenal and Viking went above and beyond their call of duty in caring for the passengers. A lady in our group fell in the Chongqing airport and broke her hip, having to go to the hospital. Viking pulled one of their English speaking guides and placed him with the couple at the hospital to act as interpreter. Hospital would not go forward with surgery until couple paid. Couple had trouble getting money wired so Viking stepped in to financially cover expenses so surgery could proceed. My husband and I were so impressed!
The Viking employees were very helpful and professional.
Great experience on River Cruise with Viking
We have been on four cruises with Viking. They have spoiled us for any other cruise line.
We had a wonderful time. Everyone from the Captain, Cruise Director, Manager and Chef were great. The crew was the best of the three cruised we took with Viking. Sorin the Mate De was very friendly and met all our need. The wait staff in the dinning room were very happy to make our experience great.
This our third trip with Viking. All the trips have each had their own uniqueness. The trip on Danube has been our least favorite. This opinion is given due to the fact that it was the trip that was to a venue that has a lot of river traffic. At each port we were docked with another ship on the river side of our boat and blocked our view. There is really something special about visiting Vienna and Passau. The Legend was an older ship and that made it less pleasurable and the staff were not as friendly and welcoming as the other two trips. The dining room wait staff was terrific, as were the other two cruises and the food was excellent. I would recommend booking this trip, even with these reservations.
Once again Affordable delivers!
Katherine did an excellent job suggesting a Viking River Tour. We had a fabulous time.
This was by far the best trip we have ever taken, and we will likely go on another Viking River cruise after this experience. Viking is very organized and the included tours are interesting and well done. Everywhere we traveled, we had local guides so we got an insiders look at the cities and additional interesting information.

the first part on the sineas(kiev-odessa): although the ship was built in '79, it was nicely refurbished. however, the crew/service was simply not up to the standards of other european long ships like the second part on the forseti. furthermore, the tipping including tour escorts was much more than usual and we had never experienced this on our other 5 viking cruises. that being said, they were quite good guides. also the wines were the same for the whole trip on the sineas; we did not like the white at all. the red was okay. however, the wines which changed daily on the forseti were quite good as was the service and food. the room on the forseti seemed cramped; not sure about the size compared to our recent douro river trip. the next to the last night in bordeaux viking provided a fabulous dining experience at chateau kirwan, one of the best experiences we've had; staff outdid themselves. all in all, it was a very good trip.
