- Day 1RegensburgWed, Nov 24, 2027
Having escaped major damage during World War II, the picturesque town of Regensburg is one of Europe's best-preserved medieval cities, the oldest city along the Danube and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Old Stone Bridge, constructed in the 12th century, is a masterpiece of medieval engineering with its 16 arches. St. Peter's Cathedral is widely considered Bavaria's best Gothic architectural work. The old town's Neupfarrplatz square is a cross section of history-it was once a thriving Jewish quarter, a bustling marketplace and the site of Nazi book burnings.
- Day 2RegensburgThu, Nov 25, 2027
Regensburg dates back to Roman times and was the first capital of Bavaria. Today, the city has a laid-back atmosphere and its warren of narrow alleys are a delight to explore. Amid its riverside streets is the small Alte Wurstküche tavern, the world's first sausage kitchen. It opened its doors in the 12th century to serve the construction workers of the Old Stone Bridge and St. Peter's Cathedral, making it the first fast-food restaurant ever. In line with Bavarian tradition, visits to the pub are customary for many of the locals and serve as a ritual of community life.
- Day 3PassauFri, Nov 26, 2027
Founded by the Celts over 2,000 years ago, Passau is one of Bavaria's oldest cities. Known as the "City of Three Rivers,” it rests at the confluence of the Inn, Ilz and Danube rivers. The city has long enjoyed its strategic position and grew to great economic and political power because of it. The legacy of its past prosperity lives on in graceful arcades, colorful houses with rococo facades and the glorious baroque St. Stephen's Cathedral, home to one of Europe's largest pipe organs. Passau is also where two nations meet; it is here that the German-Austrian border begins.
- Day 4Scenic Sailing: Wachau ValleySat, Nov 27, 2027
Sail through a serene tapestry of terraced vineyards, forested slopes, charming towns and castle ruins in Austria's Wachau Valley, celebrated as perhaps the most scenic stretch of the Danube. Journey 18 miles through this vast UNESCO World Heritage Site, where the river courses through picturesque hillsides. Gaze upon the prolific grapevines and quaint wine-producing villages hugging the shores-the legacy of vintners that stretch as far back as Celtic and Roman times and an echo of the more than 30 monasteries that served as vineyards in Renaissance days.
- Day 5ViennaSun, Nov 28, 2027
Renowned as the "City of Waltzes,” Austria's capital city of Vienna is Europe's center of classical music. Strauss and Mozart composed many of their finest pieces here. Vienna's musical history is matched by the elegant, graceful architecture that lines the Ringstrasse, the wide boulevard encircling the Inner City. Baroque, neo-Renaissance, Gothic-Romanesque and other splendidly styled structures, from the Hofburg Palace to the Vienna State Opera, take the breath away with their grand facades. Vienna has a more intimate side too: inviting footpaths lead through green parks and its famed Viennese cafés sweeten any stay with coffee and the city's delectable Sachertorte.
- Day 6ViennaMon, Nov 29, 2027
Vienna is considered one of Europe's greatest cultural hubs. Its art scene has long been established with the Hapsburg's collection of fine art, now housed at the Kunsthistorisches Museum. Today, Vienna's modern side showcases street art murals that don the side of buildings along the banks of the Danube. Ingrained in local life is the long-embraced tradition of coffeehouses; UNESCO includes Viennese coffeehouse culture on its list of Intangible Cultural Heritages. It is considered one of life's pleasures to while away an afternoon over an Einspänner coffee and a pastry.
- Day 7Scenic Sailing: Danube BendTue, Nov 30, 2027
Take in the natural beauty of the fabled "Blue Danube” as you pass through the Danube Bend, considered one of the most beautiful sections of the river. Cruising this 40-mile stretch through northern Hungary, you will see peaceful farmland and an ancient castle that once served as hunting grounds for royals and visiting dignitaries. As you sail the passage between the Börzsöny and Pilis Ranges, you will marvel at the steep hills draped with bucolic forests. And delight in the majestic church domes peering at the waterway from inviting villages and historic cities.

Questions & Answers Ask A Question
Question: Will the day-by-day itinerary change?
Question: In what language is the river cruise conducted?
The Paris, Normandy Cruise was so much better than I expected. From being greeted at the airport through all the various excursions the staff at Viking were awesome. The accommodation was so very comfortable, the food was out of this world and being taken to the airport to fly home, where the staff made sure we were at the right boarding gate, was way beyond my expectation. I would recommend this cruise to anyone who has had no experience with river cruises. My Travel consultant was the person who convinced me to go so I applaud him and say Thank You, you are the best ever Travel Consultant. If I could rate him and this cruise it would be ten gold stars.
We are ready to book again. Excellent experience!
We enjoyed the organization of all of the tours and the extra special touches on the Normandy Beaches tours. One suggestion was that the dinning room in the evenings got very loud. Maybe the acoustics could be better to absorb some of the noise. It was a fantastic trip.
Everything about the trip was at least as good as advertised. The staff on the boat were over-the-top courteous and attentive. The food was excellent and the chef was happy to honor special requests. The overall feeling was comfortable luxury. The only criticism I have would be about the pastries. Since the tour is through France, the pastry chef could use more French techniques--the pastries were better in the shops onshore.
This river cruise was our third Viking River Cruise. We have enjoyed all three river cruises, and we are always impressed with Viking's focus on customer service!
Viking helps you feel like you are there in the place you are cruising by offering regional cuisine and wines. I wish they would use more staff from the country to help with the knowledge of the area
First Viking river cruise. Loved it. Planning next one!
It's a little deceiving in the advertising. The River cruise itself is pretty short. You are then taken by bus to most of the excursions. On one day, the ship moved to the next stop and we were bussed back to the previous stop for the excursion. The excursions were excellent once you got there. Just be prepared to spend more time on the bus than at the actual place you want to visit. Nothing on Viking's website indicates you take busses sometimes nearly 3 hours one way. As a person that suffers with motion sickness, I certainly would have appreciated knowing that. Viking booked our return flight through Boston. While this may have been better going through customs versus Atlanta, this airport is huge with no airport train making it not senior friendly. It had moving sidewalks, but they were closed for maintenance. My husband has a bad knee and is unable to walk very fast. The terminals were so far from each other we actually walked over a large parking lot to it. I literally ran to the gate went I received a notice from Delta it was to leave in 5 minutes and advised my husband was on the way. We made it, but certainly have no intentions of ever returning to the Boston airport. Of course, none of this is Viking's fault, just Beware of Boston's Airport:)

We had a wonderful time. Everyone from the Captain, Cruise Director, Manager and Chef were great. The crew was the best of the three cruised we took with Viking. Sorin the Mate De was very friendly and met all our need. The wait staff in the dinning room were very happy to make our experience great.
