The only negative experience was the Hotel breakfast in Prague. Most of the hot entrees were cold. The tour guides and staff were excellent. They were very knowledgeable it made our travel experiences even better.
Because the locks were damaged again for the 2nd time in one month, we were not able to finish our river cruise. Instead we were bused for the last four days, and though this was handled professionally, we paid for a river cruise, not a river cruise/bus ride. also, since all of the passengers were bused to Salzburg, I expect a refund on that particular excursion, ($210) as promised by the ship's cruise director Sincerely Joe
It is hard to know if the price paid for Gate1 boat compared to other companies like Avalon or Viking as this was our first ever riverboat cruise and did not really look into other companies prices as this trip had the dates we needed and the itinerary we wanted. We felt well looked after and in very comfortable accommodations and served wonderful meals.
I Love Gate one and will be happy to look forward to another trip with this company. all personnel were curteous and professional. only disappointment was that the included tours left something to be desired. they were information re: history, but lacking in other areas. They were brief and very general. didn't include going into churches, castles and the like. only drove or walked by the outsides. Wanted to go in ! food was mediocre. hotel extension in Prague provided adequate breakfasts, but no other meals. And there was no welcome get together or last day anything. felt it lacked in those areas
The staff and services were wonderful. The cabins are clean, small and dated. The excursions were almost exclusively outside visits or bus drives.
